Which is exactly why I am aiming to free him from his curse of having to wear the human faces and bodies of those he unwillingly brings ruin to. His physical forms don't matter to me, only his truest and happiest form made of air because that is his true self.
I love Feradach internally, not externally. That is who I love, no matter what physical form he takes. It is for this exact reason why I do not care for Feradach’s male appearances whatsoever, and I really only care for who he is internally: a genderless, bodiless being made of air whom is kind, curious, and loving. Ever since then, I haven't gone out of my way to find the right man for myself someday because I knew they'd all anger me, bore me, and fail to give me what I really want. Meanwhile, what Merida actually said and meant: “For a short period of time during my childhood I was attracted to the body and build of a boy but the more he spoke the more I realized I wasn't really attracted to HIM at all. They never met again, as Katriel died long before the main storyline begins. Yet when (after other plot developments) Liriel turned herself into a beast and was, in turn, cursed never to be able to change back, Katriel banished her into the wilderness. Still, they did love each other, and Liriel wanted Katriel's approval. Their relationship was distant at best, though, because Katriel was a real socialite of a princess and didn't have much time for little Liriel, and as the latter became a teenager, they constantly clashed because Liriel was too independent, not social or charming enough, has too much iof a passion for elemental magic, and was too staunchly a lesbian who rejected every wealthy potential husband she was offered. I've decided that her father, at least, died when she was too young to remember him, and so her main guardian was a single mother figure, whom I've named Katriel. In my Beauty and the Beast retelling, I've been fleshing out girl-Beast Liriel's backstory from when she was a princess.
